Set in a small ex-mining village in East Lothian, Thole examines how violence has come to be inherited by three generations of men. As Chris and his father, Jim, navigate their first fragile meeting in eight years, they are forced to contend with the ever increasing madness of Jim's father, Tam, who is battling his own guilt for a life lived in rage.
